From the age of four, Manobal began taking dance classes and actively participated in dance competitions during her childhood. Eventually, she became a member of the 11-member dance crew We Zaa Cool, with which she earned an award in a televised competition. At 13, she successfully auditioned for YG Entertainment, the South Korean record label, making her the first non-ethnically Korean trainee at the company after moving to South Korea. She later appeared in the music video for “Ringa Linga,” a single by her label-mate Taeyang.

In 2016, Manobal gained significant fame as one of the four members of Blackpink, the girl group formed by YG Entertainment, adopting the stage name Lisa alongside fellow members Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé. Additionally, it featured popular singles “Lalisa” and “Money,” both of which were paired with extremely successful music videos. That same year, Lisa also had a hit with the single “SG,” collaborating with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Megan Thee Stallion.
