In the early 1980s, Clint acquired a vast, undeveloped 500-acre property situated in the hills above Carmel and Monterey Bay. Over the years, he expanded his holdings by acquiring adjacent lands, ultimately increasing the total area to 2,040 acres.

for numerous decades, the property came into development plans by Clint Eastwood, who envisioned creating a highly-exclusive private community that also functioned as an extensive nature preserve. This vision was ultimately realized through the establishment of Teháma, a sustainable private community and country club.

Teháma spans 300 acres and consists of only 90 home sites, ensuring that over 85% of the land remains untouched, preserving its natural beauty. The golf course, designed by renowned golf architect Jay Morrish, opened its doors in 1999, and membership to the club is strictly by invitation.

Original undeveloped home sites had prices ranging from $1.5 million to $6.25 million, with the pricier lots offering 10-acre plots that showcase expansive ocean views. Unsurprisingly, Clint chose one of the finest lots for himself, where he constructed an impressive 16,000 square-foot mansion on a 14-acre site, only a short golf cart drive from the main clubhouse and restaurant. Pebble Beach

In the late 1990s, Pebble Beach Golf Links was placed on the market by Lone Cypress, Co., based in Japan. Peter Ueberroth, the former Major League Baseball commissioner, learned of the sale and quickly sought to form an investment group. His initial call was to his good friend and neighbor, Clint Eastwood, with Richard Ferris, previous CEO of United Airlines, joining as their third primary partner.

Each of the three partners invested $20 million to acquire their shares. Subsequently, they brought on board 132 private minority investors, including golf icon Arnold Palmer, who each contributed between $2 million and $10 million.

Despite their final offer of $820 million being lower than the $1 billion presented by competing bidders, Lone Cypress accepted the proposal due to the commitment to close within 10 days.
